Because I have a man in my life, too

I know I hardly post anything because I am... not a good writer and don't like documenting my thoughts. But here is my... 2nd? post.

For the past 2.5 months, a lot has happened and changed. Lucy started dating MikeWang and I started nannying Patrick "Superman" Kim. Lucy's life is consumed with work and MikeWang while my life is consumed with school and Patrick.

Patrick on his first day of school
Patrick is almost 4. He can only speak little bit of English which makes him sooo cute. He can't really pronoucne his name. He says, "Patwick."

He is obsessed with Superman and really thinks he is Superman when he has any article of clothing that is related to Superman, such as cape, tshirt, rain jacket, costume, pajamas. And whenever he has his "normal" clothes, he is convinced that he is Clark Kent (ever since my brother let Pat try his glasses on.)

Superman PJs with cape, Superman Rain Jacket, Clark Kent

I take him everywhere: All NY Campus Devo, Church, my parents' house, my apartment, once took him to my school, not to my class though and Campus Leaders meeting, etc.

I see him 4-5 days a week and those days I don't see him, I badly miss him. And his mom told me that he sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night crying looking for me...(awwwwww)

Anyway, this man and I are building a quite friendship as well. I know MikeWang and Lucy are cute, but I think we are cute, too. I have a man in my life, too.

before I end, I terribly miss my friend...
email, text, call cannot replace our impromptu hang-outs, vents, hard convos, fun convos.
Come back. like right now.

BECAUSE...I love you

With everything that I am, I do. I love New York.

I've been travelling for the last 2.5 months to a wee little place called Fort Wayne(it's IN's second largest city) for work. I've never missed something as much as I miss my beloved island of Manhattan.
  I've missed...
...Mudd coffee because you CAN'T get it anywhere else
...Sunday morning walk to church when the city sleeps from a night of partying too hard. The city does sleep....in....on Sunday morning.
...The NY skyline, you take my breath away

...Yellow Taxis and their colourful, chatty, drivers.
...my zippy liddo bike and zipping erwhere
...How seriously NYers take weekend brunch. Mimosas and the sun on my back and people watching and nom nom nom
...My manicurist- must tell her abt mike (note to self)
...Street performers and free mini concerts in the park, in the subway car, outside Trader Joe's, and in the apartment below you with walls so thin, you hear every strum of his guitar
...The McDonald's a block away. No cars needed in NYC people, no cars needed. Sorry Gale.
...Having all your friends living within a 2 mile radius (my best friend lives across the hall in my building) makes impromptu sleepovers super convenient
...A bodega that stays open 24 hrs for in case of emergency red bull runs (I live with two NYU girls)
...Delivery....DELIVERY! delivery on speed-dial and eating in 15-20 minutes. 'nuf said.
...and most of all, Autumn in the city

Shamefully, I must admit, that travelling has opened my eyes to what life could be outside of my beloved city.
Things like:
...A burger under $15
...Two bedroom apartments with a bathroom bigger than my bedroom and closet space that will actually fit my growing shoe collection that cost as much as my hole, I mean home.
...A slower pace- sometimes, that IS nice
...Not being hooted and hollered at. NY, your men can be so uncivilized and obnoxious
...Not needing to make a reservation a month in advance to get in the good places
...No smelly subway car on a humid hot summer day

And yet I love you, with unwavering fervor and a passion that burns so hot...zzZZZsszzSS For better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, you are mine and I vow to be forever yours.

Your not-so-secret admirer, your biggest fan,
L

HAPPY WEEKEND!
something sweetto start your amazing days off!

BECAUSE dating is hard work...(but totally worth it)

I have been dating for the last week and half....and have been learning a lot abt myself and what it means to be in a relationship. Mike and I started reading the 10 commandments of dating in our church's dating devo along with a few other couples. And i thought id share some tidbits I've learned since that fateful afternoon on the hill.
#nyu>usc #nyc>la #lucy<3michael

5 things that are important when you're dating long distance ....or dating at all...
1. making a point to connect during the week or else it WON'T happen
2. plan ahead with flights bc the price goes up pretty significantly when you book it late. NYC-LA very expensive.....ouch. back to eating ramen errrday. hollar.
3. GET A LOT OF INPUT from trusted friends, other couples, and accountability partners.
4. find creative ways to spend time together, praying together makes me feel soooooo connected and comforted.
5. lesson from 10 commandments: GET A LIFE. don't cut back on time devoted to things like friends, work, hanging with God, hobbies, and service bc of your new-found relationship. Keeping your lives thriving and vibrant and separate to an extent is actually healthy and will benefit the relationship as you grow closer to each other and to God as a couple.

5 things my boyfriend is REALLY good at:
1. coming up with nicknames for me. a current favorite: "dragon-duck". I'm his dragon-duck. last night he called me just "dragon", then he roared....
2. driving. I love riding shotgun. granted, 80% of the time we just sit in LA traffic #smh, but when we cruise, his GTI purrrrrsss and Lucy sleeps-zzzzzzzzzz. bravo boyfriend, bravo.
3. picking very delicious restaurants for me to try in LA. that's a lie. he's not good at that at all.
4. making time for me. being there for me. you are so reliable and sweet.
5. taking Piyo everywhere he goes. Piyo appreciates it very much. It's too bad really....bc Piyo will always be a New York girl at heart.

piyo's last sat in NYC before moving to LA
piyo and mike at breakfast
piyo and mike on the way to work, piyo makes new friend
Piyo at work with mike. piyo makes another friend
piyo and mike home from work!
last saturday, mike took piyo to a matinee
off to LA tomorrow to spend some time with the above mentioned boyfriend. I've missed you!

and I miss Joy...
Your BFF,

BECAUSE we kick butt (well not me personally)...

I've been thinking about picking up dance again.

My roommate and I are researching some dance classes around the city. I have my heart set on salsa and tap. Perhaps I'll take a few hiphop classes too. I never ever thought I'd say this because I'd sweat bullets every recital but...I miss performing.

I'm so taken by these photographs. I'll be rotating through them as my phone background for inspiration. What stirs your heart?

Have you heard of the  Ballerina Project ? If not click and scroll. It just might stir yours too.

BECAUSE this is SICK...

I'm obsessed with instagram.... scroll through the blog and see. Do they charge for the app now? When I got it, once upon a time, it was free. It is my most used app, period. So imagine my delight when I saw this!

I haven't quite read through the page and figured out how to buy it yet....I'm at work afterall. ahem. but when I do...

Linda love, expect a package in the mail soon.

BECAUSE I wore my NYU tshirt...

...when this boy from LA asked me to be his girlfriend. A heat wave rolled through SoCal and we sat on a bench on top of a hill overlooking downtown LA (more precisely the E&Y, DeLoitte, and KPMG building-ahem the girl he wants to date works for...) as he read me a very long letter while perspiring heavily.
I spy with my little eyes...a very sweaty michael and a very concerned/amused lucy. captured by CJ aka Mr. Junebug
After I made sure he wasn't going to pass out from dehydration, I told him that I'd like that a lot. Because there is a growing list of things i like a lot about him:

-I like it when you prepare fresh fruit for me like the strawberries for my beach day in santa monica and the grapes when we watched bride wars together. "what did boys learn in school?!?!" well apparently this boy from LA learned A LOT #nyu>usc

-I like that I'm the only one you're following on instagram

-I like hearing you sing in the car to songs i've never heard of before, I wonder if you pick out certain songs on purpose. Love love love love crazy loveeeeeeee. I did find out Sunday that you are very touchy abt your car radio

-I like "RUS" a lot

-I'm learning to like your facial hair. It's growing on me. #seewhatIdidthere?

-I like how forgiving you are, that you try to understand me, that you give me the benefit of doubt, that you challenge me with scriptures. I like that we pray together and often

-I like that you like my smile because I like to smile when I'm around you.

-I secretly like that you drive a stick and when you go ZOOOOM on the freeway. giggle

-I like that every time you drop me off at the airport, you probably sit in your car until I take off because of the panicky texts that I send you about not wanting to leave you and already missing you way too much to not be having a hysterical breakdown in my seat

-I like that you insist on opening the car door for me when you take me out on a date. (And the whole day Sunday). I like the look you give me when I forget and open it myself.

-I like your confidence. I know your security comes from God.

-I like the way you say "man" "sami" "understand" and "important".

-I like all the different faces you make in reaction to the crazy things I say. It makes me want to say crazier things to see all those different faces. It is a fun time.

-I like that you're flying to NYC in 4 weeks. I'm going to take you to all my favorite restaurants.

I like *tweet tweet*

Hope everyone had a delightful weekend. Fort wayne is so cold. Running back to the hotel to get my grey sweatshirt!
